How to reorder PDF pages by drag and drop

What the organizer gives you

Every page appears as a thumbnail you can act on directly. You drag to reorder, and each page has its own controls for rotating, duplicating and deleting.

The important property is that nothing is committed until you export. You can drag a page, decide you preferred it where it was, and drag it back — the file on your device is untouched throughout, and the version you download is the arrangement you can see on screen.

Reordering pages

On a phone, press and hold a thumbnail for a moment before dragging. That distinguishes a drag from a scroll, which is otherwise ambiguous on a touchscreen.

The four operations, and when each is the answer

Duplicate is the one people forget exists. It is the quickest way to produce several copies of the same form page inside one document.

The merge-then-organize workflow

This pairing solves most real assembly jobs. Merge everything into one file without worrying much about order, then open the result in the organizer and arrange it properly.

It is faster than the alternative — carefully getting each source file perfect before merging — because you can see the whole document at once. Problems that are invisible when you are looking at four separate files become obvious when all the pages are laid out in a grid.

It is also more forgiving. A page in the wrong place is one drag away from being right, rather than a reason to redo the merge.

Reversing the whole document

If every page is in exactly the wrong order — the classic result of a sheet-fed scanner that stacks pages face-up — do not drag them one at a time. There is a dedicated reverse tool that flips the entire sequence in one click.

Dragging 40 pages into reverse order by hand takes several minutes and it is remarkably easy to end up one page out. Use the right tool for a complete reversal and the organizer for everything else.

What is preserved, and what is not

Pages are copied into the new arrangement exactly as they were. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed — text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and file size barely changes since the same pages are simply in a different sequence.

Rotation is stored as a page property, so it too is lossless and reversible.

What does not survive reliably is anything tied to document structure: bookmarks pointing to pages that have moved, and interactive form fields, which frequently break when pages are rewritten. Fill any form before rearranging it.

Before you export

1. 1Read the sequence once from beginning to end, not just the parts you changed.
2. 2Check the joins — the page before and after each move is where errors hide.
3. 3Confirm every rotated page is upright, including ones you rotated earlier in the session.
4. 4Make sure you have not left a duplicate you created for a reason you have since forgotten.
5. 5Keep the original until you are satisfied with the exported file.
